The courts of Moscow and Moscow region have fined Russia’s postal service Pochta Rossii 360k rubles (approx. $11k) for violating mail delivery terms.

According to the office’s statement, over 91 tons of unprocessed parcels and correspondence have been accumulated at Domodedovo Airport.

Similar violations were observed at Sheremetyevo and Vnukovo airports. Prosecutors found that 189 tons of unprocessed parcels and correspondence were kept at Sheremetyevo Airport, and over 38 tons of postal items were accumulated at Vnukovo Airport.

These items of mail were to be processed and sent off within 10 hour after they were delivered, the prosecutors said. The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that 13 cases were launched against the postal service for delaying parcels at Moscow airports.
